SAM! STOP SNIFFING THE CARPET!

So my 12-year-old brother Sam has a weird obsession with the carpet in our house. It is just kind of random and funny. I have decided to list the weird things he has done in the last week.

  1. Before we moved into the house, we came inside just to sit in it. I guess it’s just some weird family bonding thing. But every time I turned around my brother Sam was lying face down on the floor, his face right in the carpet. “Sam what are you doing?” I asked and he replied “This carpet…it just smells soooooooo gooooood….” and proceeded to sniff the carpet. I found him doing this throughout the course of the two hours we were there. Every time, I proceeded to yell “SAM! STOP SNIFFING THE CARPET!” but he just would laugh and continue being weird.
  2. When we finally started moving into the house, we had a bunch of random furniture in the living room. On Friday morning we had a delivery of new furniture to go in there, so we proceeded to move all the random stuff into another room to make way for the new furniture. When we did this, my brother Sam noticed that there was indentations in the carpet where the stuff had been before. He cried out “Oh, my God! The carpet!” and he ran to the floor, got on his hands and knees and vigorously started rubbing the carpet to smooth out the indentations. I said “Sam, it’s okay…we’re putting new furniture there anyways,” and he replied “NO! It’s NOT OKAY! THIS IS OUR NEW CARPET AND WE MUST RESPECT IT!”
  3. So as we’re in our new house now, friends and family have come to visit to see it and whatnot. As we give the grand tour, we point out things such as our new kitchen, new and old furniture, how we configured everything, and things like that. What my brother Sam tells them is “Look at this carpet! It’s amazing! It’s just so beautiful!” Those people just kind of smile and nod their heads in reply.

I just find it kind of funny/borderline creepy that my brother has this obsession.
