Bands/Songs I Listen To
Ok so I am at work bored again so I’m going to make a list of bands that I listen to the most and then my 5 favorite songs by them. I actually started off only going to do 5 bands, but alas I like too many bands and just kept going. This list tends to change often as I listen to new music and stuff but at the moment this is what I like (in no particular order):
The Beatles—I grew up...
How Much My Little Bro Loves Me
Luke: Kathleen, I love you so much!
Me: Aw, thanks Luke! How much do you love me?
Luke: I love you as much as...Adam Sandler.
Me: Adam Sandler?
Luke: What? I love Adam Sandler...

Ouch
My roommate and I have a brick that props our door open. Today I walked into it and sliced my foot open. I was bleeding everywhere and it was/is quite painful.
So I had some gauze and was going to wrap up my foot where it was cut when I realized I had no athletic tape. I went to the Student Health Center to get some but they did not have any, which I think is strange…one would think that...

My Brother The Songwriter
My brother Luke writes songs.
He has a band called Top of the Rock whose members include himself and three of his First grade classmates. I have never heard the entire band perform, but Luke loves to parade around our house singing his songs and playing his little guitar. Some of his songs (that he wrote himself) include If the Sun Bothers You and my personal favorite Joan is Serious.
Just a few...
Lots of Reading
So this is kind of pointless, but I’m a little bored right now and have nothing much else to write about. I realized today that many of the books I’ve read in my lifetime have been part of a series. Most of the time, the books I read have a sequel or many more. Just for the fun of it, I’ve compiled all of my favorite series into a list(no particular order):
Harry Potter--7...

The Worst Feeling in the World
So I had what was probably the most emotionally exhausting day of my life today.
As I walked into my nursing class today, I was surprised to find my entire class looking at notecards, paging through our textbook, etc. This freaked me out because this is typically what my entire class does the day of a test.
Exam week is officially next week, but apparently everyone but myself got the memo that...
Snow
So it’s snowing outside right now. Yesterday the girls that I babysit fought over who could use my ice-scraper to clean my car, which was pretty much encrusted with ice on one side. I hope they’re that enthusiastic today.

Beach
I went to the beach today and it was a lot of fun. We played beach volleyball and went swimming. The water was a bit cold but it was nice because it was hot out.
I forget sometimes that I live right near a huge lake. I get jealous of my California and East coast relatives who go the the beach often because they are near the Ocean. I shouldn’t be though, because I can just go to any number...

Good thing I don't often run on the edge of a...
So apparently I can’t run in a straight line.
As I was running with my teammates today, I nearly killed myself. We did a 3-4mile pick up run today I crossed over a bridge over the Milwaukee River. The sidewalk on the bridge ran all the way to the curb. I don’t really pay too much attention when I run—I kind of get into this frame of mind and I just run. What I didn’t...
First Day of Classes
So today was my first day of classes. They went pretty well. Same old handing out of syllabus, going around and announcing names, starting some lecture.
I am also happy because I had my second cross-country practice and I did pretty well. I’m still not amazing but I felt great and I definately think that there will be an improvement from last year. And we actually have enough runners for a...
10 Things I LOVE About Running
So I just saw an article on MSN titled, “Ten Most Beautiful Things in Sports.” I’m going to do a bit of a variation on this because unlike the article (which included golfing, baseball, and football moments) I can relate to it. It’s in no particular order; I don’t think I can really rank these things. So here it goes:
A feeling of accomplishment. No matter how long...
Wow! What a play! It was just like BAM! And then it landed like a butterfly with...
– Olympic badminton announcer
So another blog post for today, it all happened...
So as I was typing my last blog, I was watching Michael Phelps recieve his gold medal. It was pretty cool. The national anthem was playing and Phelps was standing on the center of the podium, tears in his eyes, and when the song reached it’s climax (The part where singers hit—or miss—the high note) the anthem was cut off and it was all silence. Suddenly his proud,...
A funny conversation about steve the hermit.
So this is a conversation that happened tonight between my cousin Jimmy’s daughters, me, and my mother. Abby is 6, Kayla is 4, and Emily is 3. They visit about once a month. Sometimes even more.
Anyways, the point is that the girls know our family pretty well….or so they think….
Emily: There’s a strange guy upstairs.
Mom: Who, your dad?
Kayla: No there’s somebody...
Michael Phelps=My favorite olympic athlete
Michael Phelps is AMAZING. In his first event at the olympics he won and set a record. No need to say more.
That woman. Had a moustache. It wasn’t just a little fuzz. It was defined.
– Steve Boyle
Giant bugs(or just bugs in general)=totally...
So apparently there was a fly the size of a person’s thumb in our garage. My brother or dad killed it while I was out. Thank god I wasn’t there because I would have probably freaked out. Flies should not be that big.
And speaking of bugs…
I was taking a walk with my brother Luke today in the woods near my house and I walked into this spider web. Not only was there a huge spider...

Lesson: inanimate objects cannot be killed
Steve: Hey Luke! (dangling Luke's stuffed animal cow over the bonfire)
Luke: No! Don't Kill him!
Steve: You can't kill something if it's NOT ALIVE!
Luke: (Thinking hard)...well, just don't throw him in...(still thinking)
Just what I like to see when I go on a bike ride….a pretty girl running.
– Creepy man-on-bike that I saw while running.
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight was possibly the best movie I’ve seen all summer. I saw it a few days ago with my brothers and it was AMAZING
Fred
Fred is the frog that lives in my garage. When I came home the other night, I pressed to code to open our garage door, and he was just chillin’ by the door when it opened. Not expecting to see a frog there I always jump thinking it’s some huge beetle or something coming at me. This has happened to me twice now (once being just a few minutes ago)
I have tried to get a picture of Fred,...
Pancake flavored custard??
So the flavor of the day at Kopps today was “Maple Syrup and Pancakes” and I decided to try it. It was surprisingly delicious, although it could be due to the fact that I do love pancakes. All I know is that Kopps can have the most bizarre flavors but they are amazing.

Glasses
So I am finally getting glasses sometime next week. Although I’m pretty sure that wearing them will annoy the heck out of me, I won’t need to wear them all the time and I’m sure that it will be nice to actually see things clearly for a change. I’m near-sighted so I can see things that are close, but faraway things are another story. In all my classes I had to sit relatively...
Internet!
Yay so I have the internet at my house now. It is quite convenient. The last few weeks I’ve been either 1) Driving to this coffee shop by my house and using the free internet there, which is always really crowded or 2) Driving 45 minutes to my dad’s office downtown and using the computers there. Either way it’s just easier to have access at my house.
Walking in Target can be quite dangerous
Yet story of my clumsiness: Yesterday I had some time to kill before meeting up with some people so I went to Target and just walked around and looked at stuff. As I was walking I managed to slip on what was probably the smallest wet spot ever (I don’t know how I manage to step on the only wet spot on the floor). When I slipped my foot slid behind me and I feel forward onto my knees. And of...

No Internet Still, but I'm getting used to...
So I’m finally getting used to living in Mukwonago. I’ve been exploring the little town and it’s really cute. And I found this little coffee shop 5 minutes away from my house that has free wi-fi, hence me being able to write this blog. They have really good tea. Anyways, I think I’m gonna like this small town.
What I listen to when I run
So when I go running, I usually put my ipod on shuffle, skipping the songs I don’t want to hear. I realized today that I listen to a strange combination of music when I run. What I listened to today: Crash (Into Me) — Dave Matthews Band Say It To Me Now — Glen Hansard American Baby — Dave Mattews Band The Carpal Tunnel Of Love — Fall Out Boy Across the Universe...
Why do phones have to vibrate so loudly??
So today in my psychology class I had four phone calls and three texts….all within a twenty-five minute span. Unfortunately for me I sit right in the front where my professor can hear all this going on. It’s one thing when you sit in the back of a crowded classroom, but when you sit in the front of a small-sized class it is definitely noticeable (and it doesn’t help that when my...

SAM! STOP SNIFFING THE CARPET!
So my 12-year-old brother Sam has a weird obsession with the carpet in our house. It is just kind of random and funny. I have decided to list the weird things he has done in the last week. Before we moved into the house, we came inside just to sit in it. I guess it’s just some weird family bonding thing. But every time I turned around my brother Sam was lying face down on the floor, his...
I'm Addicted to the Internet
So I had to spend Friday evening, all day Saturday, and Pretty much all day today without internet access. This is because we do not have our internet connected in our new house yet. All weekend I was going insane because I could not check my facebook, myspace, email, etc….I felt like I was stranded because I could not contact a majority of people I know. I think that I am officially...
This Wisconsin Weather...
So as I’m about to leave to help my family on our first formal day of moving into our house I hear thunder. This probably means it’s gonna rain. I wish that just for once we could have a full week of no snow, rain, or anything else. I know it might sound like I’m complaining, but seriously, who likes to carry big heavy things in the pouring rain all day. Not me.
My House!
My family and I are officially starting the move into our house tomorrow! We are moving to Mukwonago, about a 35ish minute drive from Milwaukee. It will be nice seeing as my family has been living in a two-bedroom apartment downtown for the last 6 months (keep in mind that there is five of them). Thank God I had the dorms to live in! I probably would have died if I had to live cramped in there...
The biggest store I've ever been in
So today my brother Steve and I went out for a random drive to our house in Mukwonago and decided we wanted to go into the local Wal-mart Supercenter Now, I’ve heard about these stores, how they kill local businesses, etc, and I’ve never really been a fan of the store, however I cannot deny the shock I went into when we entered the store. It was HUMONGOUS! They had everything there...
So I went to my brother Sam’s track meet today, which consisted of 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. There was this 13-year-old girl who ran the mile in 5:31. It was amazing. She beat everyone, even all the boys. This kind of made me think of how through all my years of high school track my best mile was a 5:51, and how this girl could’ve beaten me at my prime by twenty seconds. Both my...
sometimes people are just creeps
Do you want to know what I really hate? I hate creepy old men who honk at young girls while they are running. They just are creeps. If I had a dollar for every time this has happened to me throughout my running career, I’d be rich.
Creepy Dream I had Lastnight
So lately I’ve been having these bizarre and very vivid dreams. I had this loong dream last night where many strange and creepy things happened. A huge part of the dream consisted of the house that I babysit in being haunted. During the dream the two girls that I babysit were being possessed by these maniacal ghosts. It was sooo creepy. Like in the grudge and that creepy girl is crawling...
The alien he/she pig
So today in my anatomy and physiology lab we had to dissect fetal pigs. I usually don’t mind dissecting stuff but this thing was just CREEPY looking. It was slimy, hairless, and kind of small, and it reminded me of some sort of alien. So from then on I referred to it as the alien pig. Once my partner and I got over our initial hesitance to touch the alien pig, we had to tie it down and start...
