Ok so I am at work bored again so I’m going to make a list of bands that I listen to the most and then my 5 favorite songs by them. I actually started off only going to do 5 bands, but alas I like too many bands and just kept going. This list tends to change often as I listen to new music and stuff but at the moment this is what I like (in no particular order):
- The Beatles—I grew up listening to them and you have to admit they have come out with some pretty good music. Fav songs (again in no particular order): 1) Yesterday 2) Getting Better 3) With a Little Help From My Friends 4) Blackbird 5) Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
- The Killers—I recently started listening to them and became obsessed for a while but now just enjoy thier music. Top songs: 1) Change Your Mind 2) All These Things I’ve Done 3) Jenny Was a Friend of Mine 4) Mr. Brightside 5) Bones
- Rooney—I went through an obsessive phase with Rooney when I was in high school and then listened to them so much I kind of got sick of them, but when thier latest CD came out I was reminded how good they are and I listen to them all the time. Top songs: 1) Stay Away 2) Simply Because 3) I Should Have Been After You 4) Popstars 5) Sorry Sorry
- Gaelic Storm—I’m Irish and this is of course my favorite Irish band. Top songs: 1) An Poc Ar Bulle 2) Johnny Tarr 3) Before the Night is Over 4)Summer’s Gone 4) The Plouescat Races 5) The Night I Punched Russel Crowe
- Linkin Park—My brother got me hooked on this band a while ago. It’s good music to run to. Top Songs: 1) Faint 2) In The End 3) Numb 4) Valentines Day 5) Somewhere I Belong
- Panic At The Disco—I love thier music and how different it all is, especially thier first album vs. thier second album. Good running music as well as good sing-along music too (yay rock band! lol). I also love thier crazy song titles. Top Songs 1) The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage 2) I Write Sins Not Tragedies 3) Camisado 4) Northern Downpour 6) When The Day Met The Night
- The Fratellis—They are just great. Saw them in concert last fall and just got me even more hooked. Top songs: 1) Henrietta 2) A Heady Tale 3) Chelsea Dagger 4) Baby Fratellis 5) Creepin Up The Back Stairs
- The Decemberists—Another band that I recently have gotten into and I absouluty love thier music. Top songs: 1) Legionarre’s Lament 2) July, July! 3) Shiny 3) The Crane Wife 1&2 4) We Both Go Down Together 5) 16 Military Wives
Ok that’s it for now. I would add more because there are so many bands I like but I’m almost done with work.

My roommate and I have a brick that props our door open. Today I walked into it and sliced my foot open. I was bleeding everywhere and it was/is quite painful.
So I had some gauze and was going to wrap up my foot where it was cut when I realized I had no athletic tape. I went to the Student Health Center to get some but they did not have any, which I think is strange…one would think that they would have the supplies to treat someone who comes in with some sort of wound…
After that I ventured to the trainer’s room in the athletic area because I was sure they would have some. When I got there the door was closed and locked.
So now my foot is bandaged with scotch tape.

My brother Luke writes songs.
He has a band called Top of the Rock whose members include himself and three of his First grade classmates. I have never heard the entire band perform, but Luke loves to parade around our house singing his songs and playing his little guitar. Some of his songs (that he wrote himself) include If the Sun Bothers You and my personal favorite Joan is Serious.
Just a few hours ago he performed for our family dressed as Jimmy Hendrix. His outfit included a pillow placed upon his head as a wig and cut-out paper beard which he taped to his face.
I took a few pictures. Who knows, maybe someday he’ll be a famous songwriter/performer and those very pictures could be worth a lot of money.

So this is kind of pointless, but I’m a little bored right now and have nothing much else to write about. I realized today that many of the books I’ve read in my lifetime have been part of a series. Most of the time, the books I read have a sequel or many more. Just for the fun of it, I’ve compiled all of my favorite series into a list(no particular order):
- Harry Potter--7 books
- His Dark Materials— I’ve re-read these books a few times. I do not recommend seeing the movie The Golden Compass, which is based upon the first book in the series, it was quite horrible—3 books
- Lord of the Rings—Including The Hobbit and the Silmarillion—5 books
- Sally Lockhart Quartet—4 books
- Anne of Green Gables—I own the first 4, however there are a lot more.
- Fern Capel series— 3 books
- Series of Unfortunate Events—My brother Steven talked me into reading these books a few years ago and they are surprisingly entertaining—13 books
- Twilight— 4 books
- The Giver series—A required read in 8th grade, but still a good series— 3 books
- The Chronicles of Narnia— 7 books
- Pillars of The Earth—I read Pillars of the Earth this summer and have yet to read the sequel, which I think I’m going to do asap before winter break is over. The first book is long (973pages) but It is a really good read and I recommend it.
These total up to 54 books. What I didn’t include are the many series in which I’m not sure how many or exactly which books I’ve read (since I read them quite a while ago). I was a huge fan of American Girl, which had series upon series of books based upon different characters. I would pick a character, read the series of books, then move onto a different one. In grade school I also was a fan of the Dear America diaries. I can’t remember exactly which ones I’ve read but, I know I went through a phase where I read at least one a week for a few months. I also was a fan of Goosebumps and I used to have a small collection of those books.
That’s pretty much all that I can think of off the top of my head. I’m sure that I’ve probably read more, I just don’t remember.

So I had what was probably the most emotionally exhausting day of my life today.
As I walked into my nursing class today, I was surprised to find my entire class looking at notecards, paging through our textbook, etc. This freaked me out because this is typically what my entire class does the day of a test.
Exam week is officially next week, but apparently everyone but myself got the memo that we were having our final exam the week before exam week. Needless to say I was sitting in my seat this afternoon hyperventilating while the rest of my classmates were ready to take the test.
Thankfully I’ve been gradually studying for this test. After every lecture I started making note-cards to study for the final. Granted I wasn’t as prepared as I would have been if I had another week, I still wasn’t completely clueless going into the exam. The fact that I was a week off and that I wasn’t studying as hard as I probably would’ve, however, still made me feel uneasy. This entire afternoon I’ve been really tense and I just had a feeling of uneasiness. It was truly the worst feeling in the world.
My teacher is pretty good about posting our exams by the same night or the next day. I just checked my grades and I managed to pull off a 90% on the exam. This pretty much shocked me, but definitely in a good way. It actually brought my overall grade up.
I think that next semester though, I am definately asking all of my teachers personally when our finals are, just to be clear.

So it’s snowing outside right now. Yesterday the girls that I babysit fought over who could use my ice-scraper to clean my car, which was pretty much encrusted with ice on one side. I hope they’re that enthusiastic today.

I went to the beach today and it was a lot of fun. We played beach volleyball and went swimming. The water was a bit cold but it was nice because it was hot out.
I forget sometimes that I live right near a huge lake. I get jealous of my California and East coast relatives who go the the beach often because they are near the Ocean. I shouldn’t be though, because I can just go to any number of beaches on Lake Michigan. Today was fun and I should do that more often.

So apparently I can’t run in a straight line.
As I was running with my teammates today, I nearly killed myself. We did a 3-4mile pick up run today I crossed over a bridge over the Milwaukee River. The sidewalk on the bridge ran all the way to the curb. I don’t really pay too much attention when I run—I kind of get into this frame of mind and I just run. What I didn’t notice was the fact that I was running closer and closer to the edge of the curb, where it drops about 3 inches into the street. Suddenly I mis-stepped and I stumbled, luckily able to catch myself before I fell into the road. However I was not spared the embarrassment because the rest of my team was running behind me.
To tie this all back to my title—If the edge of the curb had been the edge of a cliff I surely would be dead right now.
